About Us

Welcome to the Second Wind Family

It all started with a soldering iron and a refusal to say "goodbye."

While most tech companies are obsessed with the next big release, we’ve always been more interested in the things people leave behind. Born in a basement right here in Raymond, Alberta, Second Wind was built on a simple belief: that quality deserves a second chance.

We aren’t just a shop; we’re a rescue mission. Whether it’s a vintage console that needs a heartbeat again or a piece of tech that just needs a little "repair first" love, we’re here to push back against planned obsolescence.

From our specialized repair lab at Second Wind Sales & Services to the curated treasures at The Mercantile, we’re proving every day that "old" doesn't mean "over."

Welcome to the repair revolution.

Our Story

Most businesses start in a garage. We started in a basement in Raymond, Alberta, surrounded by soldering irons, rescue dogs, and a growing pile of electronics that everyone else had given up on.

Second Wind Mercantile is the "treasure" half of our story. While our sister site, Second Wind Sales & Services, handles the heavy lifting of repairs and micro-soldering, the Mercantile is where we curate the things that deserve a second life.

Our Mission

To keep cool stuff out of landfills. We rescue, restore, and rehome the tech and treasures that make life fun, proving that "old" doesn't mean "over."

Our Values

We have a bit of a soft spot for "strays." Whether it’s a stray dog that needs a home or a vintage gaming console that just needs a new capacitor, we believe in a "repair first" mentality. In a world of throwaway culture and planned obsolescence, we’re here to push back.

Dedicated professionals driving our success

Cody Woodman, owner of Second Wind Sales and Services, working at his technical repair bench with professional micro-soldering tools and a disassembled laptop. Why: Connects the "face of the brand" directly to "laptop repair" and "professional service."

Cody Woodman

Owner

Operating out of our high-tech "basement sanctuary" in Raymond, Alberta, Cody is the heart and hands of the operation. He specializes in the delicate art of precision micro-soldering and the painstaking restoration of legacy computing systems. Whether it’s a modern smartphone or a vintage treasure, Cody treats every device with the same hyper-focus and care. He’s on a mission to prove that "unfixable" isn’t in our vocabulary. When he isn't hunched over the bench, he’s dreaming up new ways to keep tech out of the landfill.

Eva, Executive Assistant at Second Wind, at a modern workstation coordinating logistics and repair schedules to ensure smooth shop operations. Why: Highlights the "organization" and "reliability" customers look for in a repair business

Eva Renovar

Executive Assistant

Eva is the true backbone of our administrative workflow, making sure the gears keep turning while the soldering irons are hot. She handles complex coordination and schedule management with a level of precision that would make a Swiss watch jealous. Without her "chaos control," the tech bench would probably be buried under a mountain of paperwork and spare parts. Eva ensures nothing falls through the cracks, keeping our projects on track and our sanity intact. She’s the reason Cody can stay focused on the repairs that matter most.

Rachel, the Second Wind receptionist, smiling at the front desk while assisting a customer with an electronics repair intake. Why: Emphasizes the "friendly" and "local" feel of our customer service.

Rachel Wilson

Receptionist

Rachel is the friendly face (and voice) of Second Wind and your very first point of contact for any repair. She’s more than just a receptionist; she’s a technical "detective" who knows exactly which questions to ask. Before a screwdriver even touches your device, Rachel is busy gathering every essential model number and symptom to give us a head start. Her warm welcome and sharp eye for detail ensure that your repair journey starts off on the right foot. She’s the bridge between your tech troubles and our expert fixes.

A cinematic portrait of a witty and charming woman in her late 20s named Penny. She has a friendly, intelligent expression and wears stylish, slightly oversized glasses. Her hair is styled in an effortless, messy-chic bob. She’s wearing a comfortable teal-colored knit sweater (Second Wind brand colors!) over a casual button-down.

Penny Bontor

Copywriter

Penny is the creative voice behind the Second Wind blog, dedicated to telling the stories of the tech we rescue and the treasures we find. As our resident copywriter, she bridges the gap between complex micro-soldering repairs and the people who love their devices. With a sharp wit and a deep appreciation for the "repair first" movement, Penny spends her days translating bench-talk into the tips, tricks, and tales that help our community keep their tech alive longer. Whether she’s deep-diving into the history of a vintage console or highlighting Ray’s latest trash-heap finds, Penny ensures that at Second Wind, every piece of tech gets the last word.

Sonny, Social Media Manager, holding a high-end camera while documenting a vintage console restoration in the Second Wind workshop. Why: Links our brand to "content creation" and "vintage restoration."

Sonny Castillo

Social Media Manager

Sonny is our digital engagement specialist and the curator of the official Second Wind "vibe." He spends his days creating content that resonates with the vintage electronics community and the environmentally conscious alike. From "Before and After" repair reels to deep dives into tech history, Sonny keeps our shop relevant in a fast-moving social landscape. He’s obsessed with showing the world that old tech still has plenty of life left in it. If you’ve seen something cool on our feed lately, you can bet Sonny was the brain behind it.

Linda Wright

Legal Associate

Linda is the guardian of the "fine print" and the legal foundation that keeps Second Wind running smoothly. In the fast-paced world of tech repair and e-commerce, she’s the one who navigates the complexities of liability, terms of service, and privacy policies to make sure both the shop and our customers are protected. While the rest of us are focused on the bench or the blog, Linda is behind the scenes ensuring every "CYA" detail is locked down. She turns legal jargon into clear, compliant practices, giving us the peace of mind to focus on the mission of saving tech.
